Henry Sidgwick est un un Philosophe Utilitariste anglais du XIXè sièlce, un grand réformateur au sein de l'Université de Cambridge où il fit ses études et enseigna durant toute sa carrière. Il est l'un des premiers à s'intéresser à la psychologie notamment avec la création de la Society for Psychical Research réunissant des intellectuels qui commencent à étudier les phénomènes du comportement psychologique de l'homme.

Ce philosophe est connu pour son célèbre ouvrage intitulé "Methods of Ethics".

Henry Sidgwick est un philosophe très important dans l'étude de l'Utilitarisme puisqu'il s'inscrit dans la lignée de Jérémy Bentham, James et John Stuart Mill.
